An invoice checklist for service businesses
Last updated October 10, 2026
Prepare a clear invoice and track payments without mixing revenue and unpaid work.
Identify the parties and work
Include your business and client details, a unique invoice reference, invoice date, service description, amount and currency. Legal and tax requirements vary by country; verify them with a qualified local adviser.
Explain how and when to pay
State the due date and direct payment instructions. LeadPilot does not collect online payments. Mark invoices and payment schedule entries manually after checking that money was received.
Avoid counting the same payment twice
Invoice status records a document state. Financial reports use payment entries marked received. An invoice marked paid alone does not add money to the financial report.
